Bridge Banking App

Project Overview

2019- 2020

Background

Create an app for individuals and families with the goal of helping them pursue their financial wellness.

As design lead and contributor I worked with a small design team in collaboration with a development team.

Deliverables

• Product ideation
• Design system
• Prototyping and animation
• Visual design
• Iconography

Goals

Develop identity + design system for mobile products

Financial management that resonates with new/current users

Launch an MVP native iOS app

APPROACH

Identifying the ‘Why’

To understand why we are doing this and how the product should serve the user we started with research, discovery and analysis of existing products.

This process involved qualitative and quantitative research, current behavior analysis and identifying user needs and pain points.

Research + Discovery

Existing user data illustrated the majority user journey:
All Accounts (checking up)

Transactions (initiate action)

Documents (verifying)

Messages (communicating)

User Personas

Regardless of persona user engagement is the same.

STRATEGY

Synthesize user research to form a vision for the product.

The app intended to solve an ongoing problem that we see with financial planning. Dense data becomes too complex to comprehend in mobile format. Deciding what level of information users expect on mobile was top priority.

Bridge Banking App

Just the right amount of information
action-focused

Third Party Support Teams
The highest-level of personalize service
Contextualized analysis and recommendation

STRATEGY

MVP Feature Prioritization

Prototyping the dashboard layout

The focus of the prototype was simulating the dashboard.

Users get a quick overview of the main areas of their wealth. The dashboard gives users a comprehensive overview of their accounts, whether that's a joint account, trust funds, business accounts, loans or credit. Additionally we linked external accounts so you can see a complete financial picture.

Focus MVP Areas of the Dashboard:
Total All Accounts (Graph)
Recent Activity: Money in and out
All Loans
Portfolio asset allocation detail

Can the user understand the purpose of this view? Are they able to see what they need - does it make sense? These are the answers we were looking for in user testing.

VISION

Creating a design language

The brand is soft, relaxing and inviting. The organic shapes, icons and colors were intended to balance the serious nature of the subject matter.

Prototype

Prototyping is essential even at various levels of fidelity, we use them to user test lots of aspects of the design and hierarchy to ensure the user understands how to complete a task or action.

Key Learnings

This project combines my interests of UX design and product strategy.

It has been a great experience in taking complex data dense views and working to make them light and easy to digest.

Finance is often described as overwhelming and can be easily misunderstood. It was nice to take something difficult to comprehend and reduce it to its simplest form.
